It’s no secret that Manchester City fans, and any rival fans for that matter, will have been loving the downfall of Manchester United since Sir Alex Ferguson’s title-winning retirement back in 2013.
Five years on, and the club still hasn’t fully recovered, despite a manager with just as much prestige in Jose Mourinho taking charge.
Man United have started the 2018-19 season in dismal style, losing to both Brighton & Hove Albion and Tottenham Hotspur in the opening three Premier League fixtures.
Man City still continue to impress though, and captain Kompany, being the down-to-earth player he is, has admitted his compassion towards United.
However, he also sees the club’s struggles as something to take advantage of which could mean more bad news for those not wanting City to walk the league again.
“Manchester United are still dealing with a post-Ferguson era. So they will get that side of me, feeling compassionate. But any time it takes them to get back up, we need to take advantage of it.”
United travel to Burnley at the weekend as they look to kick-start their campaign once again but also face the dreaded possibility of three straight league losses.
The only thing they can do now is to just keep on getting points and hoping those leading in the title race slip up as much as they have already.
Kompany and City look as strong as ever, though.
