Chelsea star threatens to leave the club as he continues to be overlooked

Andreas Christensen has admitted that he could seek a move away from Chelsea if he continues to be excluded from Maurizio Sarri’s first-team plans.

The Blues defender has not been a favourable choice for new boss Sarri this season, with a partnership of David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger being more regularly preferred.

Christensen emerged as a key player for Antonio Conte last season as he continued to prove his worth for the club following an extended loan spell at Borussia Monchengladbach.

The Denmark international was made to wait for his chance to shine at Stamford Bridge but has been left without regular opportunities under Sarri so far. In an interview with Danish outlet BT, Christensen admitted that he does not want to be patient for much longer.

It has been a difficult start to the season. To be honest, it has been very difficult. I can’t stand having to have so much patience again. I’m 22-years-old now and I really want to play.

Christensen reluctantly alluded to the prospect of departing Chelsea if he continues to be overlooked by Sarri.

In the last three seasons I’ve played regularly for the teams I’ve been at, so of course, I don’t see myself staying if my current situation remains the same in the future.

It’s too early to talk about when I’m going to move, or if I’m going to move at all. But it’s clearly not a good situation for me. It has been difficult to get into the team, and when we’re getting good results like we are right now, it only makes it even harder. It’s great for the team, but for me personally, it’s been a tough start to the season.

Chelsea boast a plethora of high-quality central defensive options, with Cesar Azpilicueta able to play in the middle and Gary Cahill also at Sarri’s disposal this season.

However, it seems Christensen is unwilling to stick around and act as a squad player for the Blues, as he continues to voice his displeasure with the current situation.
