Fulham to rival West Brom for highly sought after Chelsea defender

Fulham look set to rival West Brom in the race for Chelsea youngster Trevoh Chalobah this summer, as both sides target a return to the Premier League next season.

The 19-year-old enjoyed an impressive loan spell with Ipswich Town in the Championship last season despite their relegation down to League One, and there is said to be sufficient interest in the teenager.

According to the Birmingham Mail via Football Insider, West Brom will face competition from Chelsea’s West London rivals Fulham in the race for Chalobah.

The Cottagers are targeting an immediate return to the Premier League next season, while the Baggies are also looking to return to the top flight, and both believe the versatile Chalobah could be an important part of their respective pushes for promotion.

The 19-year-old made 43 league appearances for Ipswich last season playing in central defence or central midfield, scoring twice and assisting once.
