Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was keen to make note of Romelu Lukaku’s fantastic work rate following Manchester United’s 3-1 win over Crystal Palace on Wednesday night.
The Belgian, deployed out wide against Liverpool but restored to No.9 at Selhurst Park, opened the scoring with a well-placed curling effort following some top work from Luke Shaw.
Moments after the second half begun, he had his second: a looping, cleverly engineered goal from a difficult angle at a corner.
Speaking after the game, Solskjaer singled out the 25-year-old for praise following a strong performance down the middle.
Solskjaer: "Lukaku has been putting a shift in for the team, doing loads more running than he normally does but he was a number nine again today and he got two goals. Fantastic." #MUFC

Lukaku receives derision from Man United supporters because he is not, in a technical sense, a world class player outside the box. Not yet, at least.
Where very few rival him, however, is in the box. His eye for goal – understanding the angles, the positioning, the execution – deserves to be placed among the highest bracket of finishers in the world. That he now ranks twentieth, level with Deon Dublin, in the list of all-time top Premier League scorers serves as a testament to his pedigree.
For a player whose position relies heavily on confidence, this game will do wonders for Lukaku amid a stop-start campaign at Old Trafford.
