Manchester United fans had David de Gea to thank for the crucial win over Tottenham after a dominating performance at Wembley.
The Spaniard proved once again that he is the man for the big occasion as he managed to keep a clean-sheet in the 1-0 victory.
De Gea’s saves were instrumental in keeping a rampant second half Tottenham side at bay as United had their backs against the wall at times.
Marcus Rashford managed to score from a tight angle much to the delight of supporters though many would argue their team should’ve been two or three up by the break.
The Red Devils showed moments of quality in the second half but Spurs tested out the full extent of their defence and David responded in fantastic fashion.

Spurs threw everything at us and the narrative will inevitably be “only won because of De Gea”, but let’s not forget how we took the game to them in the first half and could easily have been 3-0 up. A superb away performance.

With that important result Manchester United have now pulled level with Arsenal on points and are just six points away from the top four.
Jose Mourinho was initially sacked due to the feeling a top four spot would be impossible to achieve but with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s appointment, things have turned around brilliantly.
United fans will now be hoping De Gea’s long-term future can be resolved so that they can rest assured their best player won’t be leaving any time soon.
