Former-Juventus player Andrea Pirlo has insisted he wouldn’t be surprised to see Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba return to Turin.
Pogba has been heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford for a number of weeks now, with Juventus and FC Barcelona seeming like the two most likely destinations.
The Frenchman returned to Man United in 2016 for £89 million from Juventus having originally left on a free transfer to find more playing time.
But now, Pogba’s frosty relationship with manager Jose Mourinho could see him leave after less than three years back in Manchester. Pirlo wouldn’t be shocked.
“It would not surprise me because Juventus is looking for the best and if one player goes away it is not said that they cannot return,” Pirlo told Italian outlet Tuttosport.
It would be an extremely rare case of a player completing the same transfer twice, on two separate occasions, with Pogba having left United for Juventus once already.
Pogba’s time in Turin rocketed him to superstardom and earned him a move back to United as the then-most expensive player in world football. With Cristiano Ronaldo already hang signed for the Old Lady, they’re clearly not afraid to make a statement as they look to finally win the UEFA Champions League.
