AS Roma are interested in signing Davide Zappacosta from Chelsea this summer, according to a report from Calciomercato.
Gianluca Petrachi is set to leave his post at Torino to arrive at Stadio Olimpico at the end of the month, and according to claims from the Italian media, he has set his sights on the Blues right-back.
The sporting director signed Zappacosta during his time in Turin before Chelsea swooped to sign him while Antonio Conte was in charge.
However, the Italy international has struggled to make his mark at Stamford Bridge, settling for a backup role behind Victor Moses under Conte and Cesar Azpilicueta under Maurizio Sarri.
Zappacosta was impressive during his time with Torino and is held in high esteem in his homeland. This appears to have led to Roma expressing an interest.
Calciomercato reports that the Giallorossi will pursue the defender, but could face an uphill battle in luring him away from Stamford Bridge given Chelsea’s impending transfer ban.
