Chelsea have reportedly made an opening offer to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Christian Pulisic.
The London Evening Standard reports that talks were held on Friday between the two clubs, with Chelsea ready to step up their interest.
Dortmund remain keen to keep the player until the end of the season, but Chelsea are said to be hoping to try and convince the German side into selling in the new year.
The offer was said to be below Dortmund’s asking price, meaning a second offer from Chelsea is likely to be needed.
Liverpool have also been linked with the player and the report claims that the American would prefer the idea of working with Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.
Pulisic has been a long-term target for Chelsea and has always been viewed as a potential replacement for Eden Hazard, who is still yet to sign a new contract at the club.
The Belgian is likely to leave in the summer if no agreement has been made and Chelsea are keen to get his replacement signed up in time.
