David de Gea is committed to signing a new long-term contract at Manchester United on the condition that receives the same weekly wage as top earner Alexis Sanchez, according to reports.
Talks between De Gea’s representatives and Man United officials begun last year and have proven to be a slow affair.
Various reports over time have stressed that United, for whom De Gea has made 342 appearances, are confident about the keeper signing a new deal.
According to the Times‘ Paul Hirst, De Gea is indeed happy to extend his future at Old Trafford, but on one condition: that he receives the same package of £350,000-a-week granted to Alexis Sanchez last year.
It should be a plain obvious fact that De Gea deserves to be the club’s highest earner – and by some distance.
