Inter Milan reportedly held talks with Danny Drinkwater regarding a loan move to Italy, as per reports in Italy (via Sport Witness)
Inter held last-minute talks with Everton to discuss the opportunity of swapping Marcelo Brozovic for midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, but it was made clear that Sam Allardyce was not going to sell the Frenchman, although the Toffees were still interested in bringing the Croatian to the club and reportedly offered Inter £16m plus Davy Klaassen for their man.
Arsenal also showed interest for the midfielder, but neither side could match his £32m release clause.
Although the move did not go through, Sevilla ran out clear favourites to sign Inter’s box-to-box midielder, and had they succeeded, the Italian giants would have had to find a replacement, and that is where Chelsea’s out-of-favour Drinkwater comes in to the picture.
Milan approached the player, rather than Chelsea, possibly to show intent and convince Drinkwater to try push a deal through.
However, it was all seemingly for nothing as the transfer window is now closed and Drinkwater and Brozovic both remain at Chelsea and Inter Milan, respectively.
