Chelsea youngster Lewis Baker could return to the club following the arrival of Tony Pulis at Middlesbrough.
The Northern Echo reports that the new Boro boss is looking to streamline his squad in the January window.
Speaking about the player, Pulis said that no decision has been made on the player yet.
With Lewis, the decision is simple – he either stays or he goes. That’s the decision, and there’s no secret about it. He’ll either go back because he wants to play, or he gets his head down, stays here, and tries to get in the team here to play. If he can do that, then brilliant. But it’s all about what we can do as a football club, for the good of the football club.
Baker hasn’t featured for Middlesbrough in the Championship since the end of September, failing to make a single appearance in any of Pulis’ three games in charge.
Like many Chelsea youngsters in the January window, the midfielder is likely to return Cobham before agreeing on another loan move elsewhere.
Baker signed a season-long loan move to Boro over the summer with the hope that he could help them push for promotion and possibly extend his loan move and get Premier League football there, but that now looks unlikely to be the case.
