Arsene Wenger has revealed that Alexis Sanchez’s future will be sorted imminently with a move to Manchester United looking likely.
The Chilean had been expected to sign for Man United’s local title rivals Manchester City but the Blues aren’t willing to pay Arsenal’s £35m asking price, willing to play the hard game to get a fairer price with Sanchez’ contract running out in the summer.
29-year-old Sanchez was dropped from the Gunners’ squad for their away game against AFC Bournemouth on Sunday. He and his family are reportedly in London ahead of a move away from the Emirates.
Speaking before kick-off on Sunday afternoon, Wenger told Sky Sports: “He [Sanchez] is being vague at the moment.
“His situation is not completely decided one way or the other, so I left him at home.”
Sanchez trained with his current club on Saturday and could still stay with Arsenal until the end of the season before leaving on a free transfer, to Man City, United or elsewhere.
Wenger, though, is reportedly “resigned” to losing Sanchez before the end of the January transfer window, suggest Sky Sports.
The French manager was asked whether a resolution to the Sanchez saga, which has gathered pace in recent days, is “fairly imminent,” and confirmed it was.
“Don’t read too much into it, because even I don’t know really what way it will go.”
