Sergio Romero 6 – Generally composed in the air, aside from a poor missed catch in the 67th minute. Could have come out quicker for Bristol’s winner.
Matteo Darmian 5 – Generally difficult to watch: slow across the ground, awkward on the ball, and nowhere to be seen for Bristol’s goal.
Victor Lindelof 6 – Produced without doubt the most accomplished Manchester United defensive performance, manipulating the ball well and finding himself out of position – right up until losing his marker for Bristol’s winner.
Marcos Rojo 6 – Enjoyed a relatively composed first half but found himself painfully outpaced for Bristol’s goal. Looked slightly jittery when placed under pressure their front line.
Daley Blind 6 – Made his first start in midfield under Jose Mourinho and started tentatively. Grew into the game well, however, and produced a vital tackle on Bobby Reid just before half time.
Luke Shaw 7 – Bristol looked to isolate Shaw on the left hand side but the Englishman was disciplined and energetic from the start.
Scott McTominay 7 – Another quietly assured display from the midfielder. Hardly ever squandered possession and moved play through the lines with intent.
Paul Pogba 6 – Dictated proceedings after a poor first 15 minutes, ensuring the midfield continued to tick, but lacked presence in the final third.
Marcus Rashford 6 – Came close to scoring in both halves, striking the post with a powerful drive, but frustrated with his decision making in the final third.
Anthony Martial 5 – A disappointing outing for the Frenchman. Enjoyed a few decent bursts early on but his influence as the game went on diminished.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic 6 – Clearly still rusty after such a prolonged period on the sidelines but nevertheless produced a thunderous free-kick to bring the visitors level.
