Chelsea announce midfielder's arrival

Chelsea have announced the signing of Mateo Kovacic on loan from Real Madrid, as part of the deal to take Thibaut Courtois to La Liga.

As per the club’s official website, the Croatian midfielder puts pen to paper on a season-long loan deal.

Chelsea’s report does not confirm if the Blues hold an option to buy the player permanently or not, but it is believed that no such clause has been added to the deal.

Real Madrid offered the player to the Blues as part of the deal for Courtois in an attempt to sweeten the deal.
