Chelsea open talks over deal for Napoli star

Chelsea have opened talks with Napoli over a deal for Elseid Hysaj in the January transfer window.

According to Calcio Mercato, Chelsea are looking to negotiate a lower price for Hysaj, with his current release clause set at €50m.

The report claims that Chelsea are wary about paying over the odds for a new right-back and are looking to secure a fair deal for Hysaj.

Maurizio Sarri is keen to bring Hysaj in, as he looks for a new right-back in order to move Cesar Azpilicueta back into a central position.

Napoli are looking to tie Hysaj down to a new deal, but the prospect of a move to the Premier League could compel the fullback to reject their advances.

Calcio Mercato claim that Chelsea are prepared to sign Hysaj in January and allow Napoli to keep him on loan until the end of the season – leaving the defender to join the club officially next summer.
