Ajax manager Erik ten Hag has admitted his interest in signing want away Manchester United star Daley Blind though he concedes they may sign an alternative instead.
Boca Juniors’ Lisandro Magallan was also name dropped by the manager as the player he could sign instead of the Dutchman though he could just be trying to lower his targets’ price-tags.
According to some reports, United are happy to let Blind go for €17m but the Dutch giants may consider that to be a little too high for their liking.
Nonetheless, the midfielder didn’t rule out a move to his former club and that should help them in their negotiations for him as well.
It looks as though Daley’s departure is a matter of when rather than if and should he leave it may open a spot in the team for another arrival.
According to Manchester Evening News, Erik said: “It will be either one [Blind or Magallan] or the other. I do not think that both are realistic.
“A player [Blind] with a lot of experience, in the Premier League and in the Dutch national team. Also, he is a stable personality.
“Like the arrival of Dusan Tadic, this also counts as a considerable effort for the club. We take care of everything, but it also depends on other parties.”
The Red Devils have signed Fred, Diogo Dalot and Lee Grant so far this summer but are expected to bring in a few more signings before the window shuts.
Though Blind played as a left-back for the majority of the time under Mourinho’s management, it’s unlikely that he will attempt to replace the versatile player with another left-back.
Manchester United already have veteran Englishman Ashley Young and Luke Shaw as their options with the pair expected to compete next season for the position.
