Arsenal coach Robert Pires has revealed what Unai Emery’s two main objectives are in his first season as the Gunners’ head coach (via Sky Sports).
It was supposed to be a difficult first season for Arsenal’s new head coach but so far, Unai Emery has handled things extremely well.
The Gunners are on a winning run of nine matches after a couple of early-season defeats and have climbed into the top four of the Premier League.
Following the international break, Arsenal coach and former player Robert Pires has revealed what Emery’s two main objectives are for this season.
“For Unai Emery and Arsenal they are two objectives,” Pires told Sky Sports.
“The first is to finish in the top four and I think they can because they have a good squad, good quality, they spent a lot of money this summer for some players.
“The second objective is to win the Europa League because Emery is an expert. He won three times with Sevilla. So, I believe on Arsenal I am very happy because now they can fight for the title.”
Victory in the Europa League and a top-four finish in the Premier League would constitute an excellent first season for Unai Emery at Arsenal. Should he achieve these two feats then the foundations will be laid down ready for a real Premier League title push in the next couple of years.
