Arsenal need to get back to winning ways in the Premier League, particularly away from home.
Things were looking up for the Gunners domestically but a wonderful run of results has been halted by the defeat to Manchester United and the result at Southampton on Sunday.
Now, Arsenal are preparing for Wednesday’s trip across London to take on West Ham United and Arsene Wenger has given his team news ahead of the clash.
“Mustafi will not be back,” Wenger said. “He’s out in training, running. The medical staff have decided that he’s not completely ready. Will he be ready for Saturday against Newcastle? Yes.
“We lost Ramsey against Southampton. He will not be available for tomorrow’s game. It’s a hamstring injury, but normally [he’ll be out for] a short period. It’s not a big one.
“Everybody else, apart from the long-term injury [to Santi Cazorla], looks available. We have tests this morning to see how they have recovered.”
So, a couple of players are expected to miss the clash. Wenger was then asked if the backlog of fixtures could lead to some squad rotation.
“I have not made that decision completely so I will have to look first of all at how some players have recovered,” the Frenchman continued.
“We look at how much energy they spent, how they recover and after I make my decisions, adding to that the balance of the team.”
There will undoubtedly be some changes to this Arsenal team. With Aaron Ramsey ruled out, the Gunners could call on either Jack Wilshere or Mohamed Elneny to fill in in central midfield at West Ham. Let’s hope they’re up to the task.
