Besiktas have held talks with Marouane Fellaini‘s representatives ahead of a potential summer move to Istanbul, according to reports.
The Belgian, whose contract at Old Trafford expires at the end of the campaign, will have permission to speak with other clubs in January.
He has been linked with a variety of clubs – Galatasaray, Arsenal, Paris Saint Germain – and Jose Mourinho recently admitted that he fears the 30-year-old could leave in the summer.
And according to Turkish Football‘s Emre Sarigul, Besiktas have scouted the midfielder this season and have opened talks with his representatives as speculation surrounding his future continues.
With less than a fortnight until Fellaini can make formal preparations for a move elsewhere, no signs whatsoever have appeared to suggest Man United have made any progress in convincing the Belgian to commit his future to Mourinho.
Perhaps Fellaini is waiting to see what kind of package other clubs are willing to offer him in contrast with his current employers, yet the general feeling encircling his predicament leans further towards the exit door at this moment in time.
United are unlikely to offer him a big money deal or guarantee his place in Mourinho’s starting XI, while a club like Besiktas would be able to promise a central role in their side.
