Chelsea made their way through to the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup tonight as they claimed a late 2-1 win over AFC Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge.
Alvaro Morata scored in added time thanks to a delicious back heal from fellow sub Eden Hazard to secure their passage to face Arsenal in the next round.
It was a tight game throughout but, Willian gave the Blues the lead in the 13th minute before Dan Gosling leveled the tie in the 90th minute in what the visitors thought would send the tie to extra-time only for the hosts to respond.
Blues boss Antonio Conte was delighted with how his team responded to conceding so late on as he told Talksport after the game.
[It was] an amazing game. At the end we conceded the draw [sic], but then a fantastic reaction because we scored another goal and reached the semi-finals.
I think this is a remarkable achievement for us.
Chelsea rang the changes for the cup tie against the Cherries as the fringe players were given a chance to impress.
Mitchy Batshuayi and Ethan Ampudu were all given opportunities to impress the Italian ahead of a busy run of games which sees four matches in ten days for the Blues.
Conte was also pleased for his players stating.
I’m very happy for all the players. Usually they are not playing with regularity, but today they gave me good responses.
