Bayer Leverkusen have confirmed that German midfielder Kai Havertz has left the Stuttgart headquarters of his national team and his on his way to Chelsea.
The 21-year-old is headed to south London to ‘clarify matters’ surrounding a potential deal to take him from the Bundesliga side to the Blues.
Havertz could complete his medical with Frank Lampard’s side in the not so distant future should negotiations go smoothly.
Havertz left the training base following a discussion between Leverkusen and the German national team leadership.
The deal is thought to be around the £89 million mark and could rise towards £100 with add-ons and bonuses, with the nine-times capped international signing a five-year contract.

The attacking midfielder has been in sensational form in the Bundesliga for Leverkusen, scoring 29 goals and making nine assists across the last two sons in the league.
Havertz will become Lampard’s sixth signing of the summer following the arrival of Thiago Silva, Hakim Ziyech, Ben Chilwell, Malang Sarr, and Timo Werner.
This deal, while it presents a huge outlay is perhaps the most exciting of the lot, a phenomenal talent who every top club in Europe would have been delighted to sign.
