The more possession Manchester United have in a match, the less their chance of winning the game, according to incredible statistics published on Twitter.
PL games in which we have had 55% possession or more:
vs Wolves (63.4%)
vs Palace (70.8%)
vs Southampton (56.5%)
vs Arsenal (55.1%)
vs Newcastle (67.8%)
vs Sheffield (58.6%)
vs Aston Villa (59.3%)0 — 5 — 2 record.
We have 72.1% vs Everton right now…

The statistics, tweeted during the second half against Everton, shows that the Red Devils have failed to win any of the Premier League matches this season where they have had 55% possession or more.
By the end of the match, United had enjoyed 66.5% possession against the Toffees but again failed to win the game. This updates the published statistic to Played 8, Won 0, Drawn 6, Lost 2 with 55% possession or more.
Fans were frustrated that Victor Lindelof lost possession so many times during the game but perhaps he had read the statistic and was trying to get the percentage down to under 55%. He certainly did his best.
Olé Gunnar Solskjaer has to solve this conundrum of how to break down bus-parking sides. It has become an established pattern this season and will cost United a place in next season’s Champions League unless it is solved quickly.
The absence of Paul Pogba and the poor performances of stand-in attacking midfielders/number 10’s Andreas Pereira and Jesse Lingard have both left United without any creativity in the final third and as such, unable to penetrate the stubborn defences that epitomise Premier League football at Old Trafford.
