Neville explains how this Man United duo can replace Lukaku

Manchester United legend Gary Neville has backed Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford to form a solid attacking partnership with the latter helping the former to succeed as a striker.

The sensational Frenchman has slowly emerged as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s preferred man to lead the line and it reaped it’s rewards in the 4-0 rout over Chelsea.

Martial had grabbed a goal while Rashford scored a brace from the left flank to put the Blues to the sword.

Solskjaer had previously said since his attacking options are so flexible it allows him to consider between a two striker formation or a one.

Luckily he went with the right choice against Chelsea and United ran out convincing winners.

According to Manchester Evening News, Neville: “Martial has not realised his potential on the left side for three or four years and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is probably thinking he wants to play centre forward, he’s a good finisher, I have to give him that chance.

“You could argue it’s to the detriment of Rashford, but if he can get his head around playing on the left and be comfortable and Martial can be a centre-forward then it’s worth giving him that chance.

“At Manchester United when there’s speculation around Martial leaving there’s been a big fear that he will go to another club and become one of the best players in the world because he has got that much talent.

“I think now is the time for Martial to deliver it. He is being given his chance as a centre-forward and scored a good goal today [against Chelsea].”

Although Martial has seemed to be a little hesitant to play out wide, it’s difficult to say the same for Rashford.

After all the English prospect has publicly talked several times of his openness to playing across the front three as he enjoys being versatile and flexible.

Rashford himself has admitted to not seeing himself as the typical striker so it makes sense that if one of them was going to play on the left, it would be him.
