Former Leicester City star Danny Simpson has lauded his teammate James Maddison amidst links with Manchester United ahead of a potential winter transfer window move.
The young Englishman fits the bill in terms of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s transfer targets and so it wouldn’t be a surprise should the move happen.
However, convincing Leicester to depart with yet another of their key players in back to back windows, having lost Harry Maguire to United already, will be incredibly difficult.
With Solskjaer’s men struggling to break down the stubborn Wolves and Crystal Palace defences, a top quality attacking-midfielder is needed and Simpson has insisted that is what Maddison is.
Jesse Lingard‘s struggles has seen him heavily criticised of late and the Red Devils’ fanbase is unlikely to be patient any longer.
Danny Simpson: “Maddison to United? Yeah. He, for me, is world class. I think people are speaking right now but honestly I think for an English player as well, honestly he’s world class and he’s only going to get better and better.” #mufc [Sky]

Manchester United fans called out for midfield investment all summer but unfortunately Solskjaer could only bring in a centre-back, right-back and a winger.
It was believed he targeted a central-midfielder as well but nothing came of it which either suggests the right player wasn’t available or his board failed him.
The latter is certainly more likely and United supporters will be hoping that failure doesn’t cost them too much this season with their side already dropping points.
