Manchester United star Paul Pogba has responded to his recent racist abuse online after failing to net his penalty against Wolves.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men have been plagued by a bizarre interest in who his penalty takers are after the players missed two penalties in back to back matches.
United have actually won a penalty in all three of their matches so far with Marcus Rashford netting the first against Chelsea, Pogba missing against Wolves and then the young Englishman missing against Crystal Palace.
The two talismanic players have received a host of racist abuse, most notably online and it’s stirred up a real fuss over a host of different issues.
Pogba was mostly quiet in the past with his teammates and club using their social media channels to offer him support but he’s now finally broken his silence.
My ancestors and my parents suffered for my generation to be free today, to work, to take the bus, to play football. Racist insults are ignorance and can only make me stronger and motivate me to fight for the next generation. pic.twitter.com/J9IqyWQj4K

Pogba couldn’t have responded more perfectly and hopefully social media channels will step up their efforts in order to eradicate the racist abuse that’s so prevalent on their platforms.
New Manchester United signing Harry Maguire has suggested a solution, calling on the likes of Twitter to demand ID checks such as a driving license or passport in order to prevent anonymous racist abuse.
If every account has a real life ID and person behind the profile, it’d be far more difficult to get away with doing anything wrong.
