Former Manchester United star Rio Ferdinand had plenty of praise for Daniel James despite the club’s disappointing 1-1 draw against 10 men Southampton.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side failed to end their miserable form of late though the young Welshman did everything he could to win all three points.
James got United going by scoring a fantastic effort to give his side the lead but unfortunately they failed to build on it.
The sensational winger has been in the limelight of late for a negative reason as some accused him of diving.
It’s obviously a shame given how James has scored three goals in four appearances and Ferdinand has certainly chosen to focus on the positives.
Ferdinand on Daniel James: “This kid today, he was the shining light in this team. He was the guy they went to for any kind of inspiration or any type of threat on goal, came through this guy. Yes he makes mistakes, he’s young. That’s going to happen.” #mufc [BT]

Ferdinand on Daniel James: “What I will give you is this guy works his nuts off, he actually gets out there and takes responsibility.” #mufc [BT]

It seems strange to suggest that James is actually a rather raw talent given how he’s taken the Premier League by storm so far but it is the truth.
For all his talent and quality, it could be argued the former Swansea man could’ve had a hat-rick against Southampton had he been even more clinical.
That’s not to say he was wasteful or put in an inconsistent or poor performance, rather it’s the opposite.
He’s a young player and so it’ll take some time to polish up his decision making but once that happens it’s obvious he’ll be a top talent.
