AS Monaco midfielder Youri Tielemans admitted he was ‘flattered’ by the idea of Manchester United wanting to sign him this summer.
The Belgian first emerged on Man United’s radar back in 2016 when he was captaining boyhood club Anderlecht aged just 19-years-old – Matthijs de Ligt style – during a season in which he starred against United in the Europa League.
Instead, Tielemans made the unfortunate decision to join AS Monaco, who have plummeted down the Ligue 1 table, and moved to Leicester City on loan this season after an unsuccessful spell in France. He now has a decision to make over where his next destination will be.
Speaking in an interview earlier this week, Tielemans stressed how he was yet to make a decision, but did emphasise he appreciated being linked with United.
Tielemans: “Flattered by Man Utd and Spurs interest? Yes, they are really big teams in England and in Europe. To hear those names gives me confidence. I just try to play my game on the pitch and try my best.” #mufc [MEN]

According to the Independent, Tielemans has come back on United’s radar amid uncertainty over his future and following an impressive few months under Brendan Rodgers at Leicester City. While he is not the priority, United would be open to moving for Tielemans should Paul Pogba decide to leave Old Trafford this summer.
