Chelsea were considering move for Sevilla star in January

Chelsea were considering a move for Sevilla midfielder Pablo Sarabia in the January transfer window.

According to Estadio Deportivo, via Sport Witness, Chelsea were prepared to meet his €22m release clause towards the end of the window, but were not willing to bow to his wage demands.

The report claims that Chelsea opted against a deal once they discovered that he was demanding €5m a year in wages, with the Blues only willing to offer him €4m-per-year.

Sarabia has been in excellent form for Sevilla in La Liga this season and has notched nine goals and seven assists so far this campaign.

The 27-year-old is attracting interest from plenty of clubs, with PSG and Chinese side Dalian Yifang also said to be keen on the Spaniard.

The report also claims that Sarabia was not interested in leaving Sevilla, unless he was offered a contract that was too good to turn down.
