Manchester United caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer demonstrated emphatically to the watching world that he was more than just a smiling face with a tactically astute display to beat Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley.

The Norwegian’s tactical acumen was personified by a style based on mobility and speed down the middle, as Paul Pogba released a sublime pass to isolate Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen up against Marcus Rashford, who duly scored his seventh goal of the season just before half time.
