Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri has questioned Eden Hazard’s leadership qualities.
Speaking ahead of their second leg against Tottenham, as reported by the Daily Mail, Sarri stated that the Belgian is playing as an induvidual and not as a leader.
At the moment he is not a leader but a great player – one of the best in the world. We have some players with the characteristics to be a leader. Azpilicueta and Luiz. I think they can help the other players.
The Belgian is currently being used as a makeshift striker and for some time now he has looked far and away Chelsea’s most dangerous outlet this season.
The Blues have become reliant on his induvidual talent in recent weeks due to the lack of firepower up front, something Sarri hopes the impending arrival of Gonzalo Higuain will solve.
Many suggested that Hazard could be named as Chelsea’s captain over the summer.
Having led the Belgian national team during the World Cup in Russia and as a result of growing concerns over Gary Cahill’s future, it seemed that Hazard was the obvious choice for the role, but it was not too be.
