Everton are targeting Michy Batshuayi in their hot pursuit to bring in a new striker before the January transfer window slams shut but Chelsea are holding out for £35million, according to The Guardian’s Ed Aarons and David Hytner.
Kurt Zouma’s loan deal means Everton can’t sign Batshuayi on a temporary basis, however, manager Marco Silva is said to be confident of a deal going through before Thursday’s deadline.
The 25-year-old moved to Stamford Bridge from Marseille for £33million and now Chelsea are looking to recoup what they splashed out back in 2016.
Interest in a loan deal from West Ham United has already been brushed aside this month.
After scoring 19 goals in 53 appearances over one-and-a-half campaigns with the Blues, Batshuayi impressed on loan at Borussia Dortmund in the second half of last season, netting nine in 14.
‘Batman’ has spent the first part of the 2018/19 season on another loan, this time in Spain with Valencia, but he has scored just three goals in 23 games and hasn’t featured yet in 2019.
Valencia have been actively looking to cut his stint at the club short and after Maurizio Sarri replaced Alvaro Morata with Gonzalo Higuain earlier this month, it’s unlikely the Belgian international’s minutes will improve in the capital.
