Chelsea have seen an offer for Gonzalo Higuain rejected by Juventus, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Blues have been linked with a move for the 31-year-old for a while now, with Maurizio Sarri keen to bring in his former Napoli player.
With Alvaro Morata set to exit this month, a replacement is required to help boost the west Londoners’ top-four bid.
Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia is believed to have had a bid for Higuain knocked back, although there is still confidence that a deal can be agreed.
Juventus are thought to be demanding a £48million loan fee for the striker – half of which will be the player’s wages over an 18-month period.
It is claimed that Juve’s sporting director Fabio Paratici is waiting to hear Chelsea’s next move.
Higuain is trying to force a deal through, according to Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri, so it could be an interesting few weeks in the transfer window.
