Arsenal’s Petr Cech has announced that he will retire from professional football at the end of the season.
Per Mertesacker and Mikel Arteta have both retired at Arsenal in the last couple of years and it looks as if another player will be hanging up their boots – or in this case gloves – this year.
Petr Cech has announced that he will retire from playing at the end of the season, putting an end to a 20-year career.
The 36-year-old signed for the Gunners in 2015 after 11 successful seasons across London at Chelsea.
“I feel like I have achieved everything I set out to achieve,” Cech said in a statement to supporters.

“I will continue to work hard at Arsenal to hopefully win one more trophy this season, then I am looking forward to seeing what life holds for me off the pitch.”
Petr Cech has made over 900 appearances in an incredible career which has seen him win four Premier League titles, five FA Cups, the Champions League and UEFA Europa League. Cech is one of the greatest goalkeepers in Premier League history and deserves a good send-off from Gunners fans.
