Arsenal are said to be adamant that there will be no purchases this January, just loan deals if they make sense to the club for the rest of the season. Unai Emery made some important additions last summer including Bernd Leno and Lucas Torreira, and while the transfer kitty appears to be empty now, there is room for a loan deal or two.
The Express state that the latest focus of Unai Emery and Arsenal’s attention is on Youssef Ait Bennasser at Monaco, who are in the relegation zone in Ligue 1. The Gunners will hope a deal can be done between the clubs, especially so with former-striker Thierry Henry in-charge at the French Riviera club.
The 22-year old Moroccan international has made 17 appearances in all competitions for struggling Monaco this season, chipping in with a couple of assists in the league.
Monaco are would reportedly like to see a deal done that will see the midfielder move to north London permanently once the summer transfer window opens – with a relatively low transfer fee of €10 million said to be the price.
If Arsenal do indeed sign Youssef Ait Bennasser they will be adding a player with over 60 Ligue 1 appearances to their ranks, as well as an international for Morocco with 14 senior caps.
AC Milan and Genoa, say the Express, have also registered a keen interest in signing Ait Bennasser, but it appears Arsenal are determined to pip any interested clubs to the signature. The links with Arsenal and Monaco manager Thierry Henry will only add to the speculation the player’s Premier League bound.
