Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has explained why Anthony Martial missed the win over Huddersfield, explaining that his absence was due to illness.
The Frenchman has been in fine form this season but luckily wasn’t missed as his side ran out 3-1 winners, picking up another important three points.
Martial should be fit to face United’s next opponent Bournemouth this weekend where another win will be crucial in their bid for a top four spot.
Long-term wise it’s clear to see the winger will play an important role in Solskjaer’s side over the next few months and potentially longer.
The Norwegian is looking to turn his caretaker role into a permanent one but will need to pull off a miracle.
Ole: “He (Martial) must have had a bad chef over Christmas, if it’s food poisoning or something I don’t know, but he has fallen ill over Christmas.” #mufc [MUTV]

It’s a shame Anthony missed out on the win as he could’ve grabbed himself a few goals as well to keep up the momentum.
In his absence, Juan Mata was impressive and may have just done enough to cement his place in the starting XI.
The Spaniard wasn’t the best player on the pitch against Huddersfield but kept the Red Devils ticking over nicely as he always does.
The two players offer different qualities so Ole would be wise to use them when he sees fit according to the occasion and opponent.
