AC Milan sporting director Leonardo has poured cold water over claims that Gonzalo Higuain has asked to join Chelsea.
As reported by Italian football journalist Simeone Nobilini, Leonardo claims that the Italian side are still very much on the same page as the striker and want him to see out the season at the San Siro.
Higuain is once again being heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in a deal that would see him join up with his former Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri.
The latter was very keen to sign the forward over the summer, but Chelsea refused to meet Juventus’ huge asking price.
Reports in Italy have indicated that the player is unhappy at Milan, who also look unlikely to take up their option to buy following recent FFP problems.
There have now been suggestions that Chelsea could effectively take over the loan agreement with Juventus and have the striker for the second half of the season, while also maintaining the option to buy in the summer.
