Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly keen on bringing in Roma star Lorenzo Pellegrini despite signing Fred just last summer.
It was believed with the addition of the Brazilian, the club’s midfield was finally complete having previously signed Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic.
Despite that, the Portuguese manager is still keen on adding another man to his midfield and believes the Italian star would be a bargain.
Fred is said to have disappointed Mourinho since his arrival which could leave room for Pellegrini to make an impact should he arrive.
Roma aren’t too keen on letting one of their top performers depart but might not have a say in the matter thanks to a release clause.
According to Bleacher Report, Corriere dello Sport report that Jose wants to activate Lorenzo’s €30m release clause and offer double his €1m a year wages in order to secure his transfer this January.
The Red Devils were linked with signing him last summer but no bid materialised with the aforementioned Fred arriving instead.
It could be that Pellegrini is just trying to use the report to get himself a better contract but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Mourinho invest in yet another midfielder.
