Italy manager Roberto Mancini will rest Chelsea star Jorginho in his side’s fixture against USA on Tuesday night, according to a report from Football London.
It’s claimed that the Azzurri boss has informed Jorginho that he can leave his international duties early as he is not needed for the national team’s friendly clash during the week.
Jorginho has been a vital cog in Maurizio Sarri’s system at Chelsea, as he was for the manager during the pair’s time at Napoli, and this news is sure to come as a boost to the Blues boss.
The midfielder started as Italy were held to a 0-0 draw against Portugal in the UEFA Nations League but it seems this is as far as his international exertions will go during the break.
Chelsea face an important Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley Stadium on Saturday and will be keen to have Jorginho ready and available for selection.
Since his move to Stamford Bridge, the 26-year-old has made 15 competitive appearances for Chelsea.
