Manchester United are reportedly losing patience with David de Gea as negotiations for his new contract continues to drag on.
The Spaniard’s current deal expires next summer which could see him potentially depart for free.
United are obviously keen on tying him down for as long as possible but rumours claim he’s waiting to see whether it’s realistic for him to win any silverware.
De Gea clearly has a special love for the club but is running out of patience himself as they continue to deal with the post Sir Alex Ferguson era.
Old Trafford has seen a few decent trophies arrive such as the Europa League, FA Cup and League Cup but the Premier League has continued to elude them.
According to Talk Sport, the Sun report that the Red Devils set David an end of the year deadline to renew his contract or they will trigger the extension clause within his existing one.
Should it result to the latter then it’s clear the club would be forced to sell next summer to avoid losing him for free.
They wouldn’t be able to recruit the maximum amount in fees but should garner enough money to make it respectable though fans will not accept how the board allowed such a thing to happen in the first place.
