Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has pointed to a lack of options on his bench as the reason for not making any changes during the clash against Juventus.
The two European giants faced off in the Champions League group stages with the Serie A side claiming all three points at Old Trafford.
United lost 1-0 and could be in trouble soon having only picked up four points out of their first three games.
Mourinho’s men attempted to respond in the second half but couldn’t muster up more than a few tame efforts.
The Portuguese manager didn’t really try to change things around either whether it was tactically or through personnel.
When Jose was asked about the lack of substitutions he said: “Sanchez in the stands, Lingard in the stands, Fellaini I haven’t seen but maybe at home. I had an 18-year-old [Tahith Chong] who has never played.”
There’s definitely truth to the former Chelsea man’s words but it was perhaps also a shot at the club’s board to provide him with the funds to add to his squad.
Whether they respond to his request or not remains to be seen but given how the last summer went, fans shouldn’t get their hopes up.
Mourinho may not even make it to the winter transfer window given how his job is under threat with Zinedine Zidane said to be lined up to replace him.
