Former-Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has insisted that he’s not going to make a return to the club.
It would be possible for the Swede to sign for Man United on loan during the off-season in Major League Soccer.
Ibrahimovic is playing for LA Galaxy in the United States at the moment, and recently netted the 500th goal of his career.
He’s claimed that there’s no chance of a return to United, where he played for two seasons. In his first campaign in Red, he netted 28 goals as he led United to the EFL Cup and UEFA Europa League trophies.
“United? Not in my picture,” Ibrahimovic said, as per beIN Sports.
“I’m here, I’m happy here and I have a game on Sunday. That is all my focus is on.”
Ibrahimovic jokingly added that his wages might be too much for United.
“And by the way, I’m very expensive also, so…”
While the 37-year-old had a great time at United and is doing well for the Galaxy, too, it would be a bad move to welcome him back to Old Trafford.
That’s because such a short-term boost would be a sign of a lack of confidence in the club’s current forwards. That would in turn lead to less confidence from those players. It would also not allow United to develop as a team.
On the other hand, Ibrahimovic has the character that most others do not in the United side. He is a winner and a leader. No one else is showing that they fill that description in the United squad at the moment.
