A number of Manchester United players are set to receive hefty fines from the club after their actions on Friday.
Ahead of the Reds’ 1-0 defeat against Juventus on Tuesday night, Man United manager Jose Mourinho encouraged his players to walk to Old Trafford for the game rather than stay on the delayed coach.
This came after United had already arrived late for their home game against Valencia in a previous UEFA Champions League fixture.
The players in question decided to protest at the club’s woeful travel arrangements that has caused such havoc and did so by refusing to turn up to a commercial sponsor’s event at the club’s academy building at the Carrington training complex.
The Mail claim that this infuriated the Manchester United executives and owners and that they will fine the players in hope of deterring any future similar stunts.
United are in a complete mess. The on-pitch performances are poor, Mourinho’s comments in the media are inflammatory, as are Pogba’s. The manager is at war publicly with former-players. They arrive late for their own home games.
This is yet another example of that chaos at United. The players fighting with the club’s other staff and it being leaked to the media is a shambolic situation.
A source told the media that “these sponsors pay a lot of money and this is an event which is taken seriously.
“United have a fantastic relationship with their commercial partners and this did not go down well at all.”
