Fred has revealed that Paul Pogba, Andreas Pereira and Eric Bailly have become his three closest friends at Manchester United.
The Brazilian was the club’s only major signing of the transfer window, arriving from Shakhtar Donetsk for a fee of £52.7m.
He has been eased in by Jose Mourinho, making just five starts so far, but recently impressed in the 1-1 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford, scoring his first Man United goal in the first half.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Fred noted how the aforementioned trio had become good friends since he joined the squad in July.
“We meet after work to play video games and have dinner,” he said. “It is important for the team. Paul Pogba, Andreas, Eric Bailly… we are close friends.”
United as a team and club are struggling at the moment but those inside the dressing room, despite Jose Mourinho’s toxic influence, remain very much together. Losing games can crush a team’s spirit but United, at least at the moment, are still in harmony and, as seen against Newcastle, remain determined to fight for each other.
The main problem, however, is their waning appetite to fight for their manager, whose days at Old Trafford feel numbered.
