Romelu Lukaku explains how Manchester United will beat Juventus

Romelu Lukaku has spoken out about the threat posed to Manchester United by Juventus in the Champions League this season.

Jose Mourinho’s men host the Serie A side, who signed Cristiano Ronaldo over the summer, on October 23rd ahead of travelling to Turin for the reverse fixture on November 7.

Juventus have reached the Champions League final twice in the last four years and are expected to win this group quite comfortably.

Speaking in an interview earlier this week, Lukaku conceded that taking on Juventus in back-to-back clashes will be very difficult.

“Juve have a great project in place and they just keep going. Every year they try to get stronger,” he said.

“Without doubt, Juve are one of the two-three best teams in Europe. They’ve got a great coach on the bench and extraordinary players in every area of the team.

“Cristiano Ronaldo stands out, but watch out for the others too. Paulo Dybala is already impressive and getting stronger, while I love Douglas Costa. He’s an exceptional signing and his career shows he always makes the difference.

“It’s a tough group, but obviously Manchester United want to finish on top.”

Those two games against Juventus may well prove to be a watershed moment in Mourinho’s time at United. A pair of defeats would send the Serie A champions through and leave United three points behind Valencia, assuming they beat Young Boys twice. A subsequent defeat to Valencia at the Mestalla in the next game would kill their Champions League dream completely.

However, avoiding a pair of defeats to Juventus would do wonders for the board’s confidence in Mourinho, who was hired on the basis of his superb achievements in Europe.
