Manchester United manager José Mourinho has warned striker Marcus Rashford about his attitude in recent weeks.
The young forward was sent off against Burnley a few weeks ago in the Premier League and has been absent for Man United‘s recent domestic matches. He did play, though, in the club’s comfortable 3-0 win against Swiss champions young boys in the UEFA Champions League. Rashford behaviour in the aftermath of this game that to a warning from manager Mourinho.
Mail suggest that Rashford “did not follow the instructions from coaching staff after the game” during the warm down here in Switzerland. Mourinho subsequently told the 20-year-old that he is “not too important to do as he’s told“.
Rashford has been the subject of intense debate regarding his playing time at Man United, although the Mail reports that have been concerns of his attitude since returning from England’s World Cup campaign in the summer, in which the Three Lions reached the semi-final of the tournament.
It is yet another example of a United player having a spat with their manager in the last few weeks, with the most high-profile example, of course, being Paul Pogba.
It would be incredibly disappointing if it’s true that Rashford’s attitude has worsened since the summer. Since breaking through under Louis van Gaal in February 2015, Rashford has been the model player, particularly given his age.
He’s never complained, done very little media work in public and has kept a close-knit group of friends that he knew before becoming the world star he now is. The more he keeps that up, the better he’ll do in football.
