Manchester United have reportedly submitted a bid for Sporting Lisbon’s Bruno Fernandes, edging closer towards a signing they’ve been linked with for quite some time.
The Portuguese star’s versatility would be an asset to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side given his ability to play in the attacking-midfield and central-midfield positions.
United were said to be keen on investing in both roles so approaching the youngster makes sense for the Norwegian.
Fernandes is believed to be chased by both Manchester City and Tottenham though Solskjaer’s side are the most interested party.
The club legend is in need of making smart transfer decisions after the underwhelming signings of the past.
According to the Express, Jornal de Noticias report that the Red Devils are willing to pay £48m and £19m in bonuses but they are rivalled by Tottenham who are willing to part with £58m outright.
The London side have an issue though that may work in Ole’s favour as they still have Christian Eriksen on their books.
The Dane has one year left to his deal and with no news emerging on an extension, he could be sold to avoid losing him for free.
If he does extend or isn’t sold then Manchester United can potentially sign Fernandes with no competition.
