Manchester United have reportedly finally submitted a huge bid for Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly, taking a significant step in their chase for him.
The Senegalese international is said to be one of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s main targets for the summer with the need for defensive reinforcements clear as ever.
Koulibaly would add definite quality to United’s backline, especially given their desperate need for a leader in the squad.
The centre-back was previously thought to be too expensive but perhaps Solskjaer’s inability to sign other targets have brought him back to the Napoli star.
Kalidou is in the peak of his career and would be signed at the ideal time given the Norwegian’s need to deliver immediate results.
According to the Daily Mail, Corriere dello Sport report that the Red Devils have made an £84m bid which is not far from Napoli’s desired opening bid of £89m.
The report goes a little against Ole’s public statement of a desire to sign young, talented youngsters full of potential.
However, Ajax’s open auction of Matthijs de Ligt may have meant Manchester United have lost interest in following that transfer policy for their defence.
Either way, time will tell whether the Italian club will budge on selling one of their main stars in Koulibaly.
