AC Milan could be about to end their interest in Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata following the departure of sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli.
As per a report from SportItalia, Mirabelli was closing in on a deal to bring Morata to the San Siro, but that is now unlikely to go through.
Former Milan player and Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo Araújo is set to replace Mirabelli at the San Siro.
The report claims that Milan could shift their full attention to a deal to sign Chelsea target Gonzalo Higuain.
Milan are rivalling Chelsea for the Juventus striker and will be able to offer the player the chance to stay in Italy, something that reportedly appeals the 30-year-old.
Morata is reportedly keen to leave Chelsea this summer after struggling since his arrival from Real Madrid.
A return to Italy appeared the most likely destination for the striker, with AC Milan leading the way to sign him from Chelsea.
Chelsea had also been interested in signing Gianluigi Donnarumma from Milan, but it is yet to be seen how Leonardo’s arrival will affect that.
