Chelsea are being urged to make Ruben Loftus-Cheek a first-team player next season by former defender Mario Melchiot.
Speaking on TalkSPORT, the former Dutch defender wants to see the England international given a chance in Maurizio Sarri’s side after impressing in Russia at the World Cup.
He needs to get an opportunity at Chelsea. If he can go somewhere else and make it to England’s World Cup squad, having played in the same league as Chelsea and against the same players Chelsea are playing against. He performed well on loan and made it to the national team!
Loftus-Cheek shone during the second half of the season whilst on loan at Crystal Palace.
Despite struggling with injuries throughout the campaign, his performances at Selhurst Park earned him a place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad.
While he was not a regular starter for England, he impressed when given the chance off the bench.
It is yet to be confirmed whether or not Palace will feature in Sarri’s Chelsea side, with the Blues believed to be pursuing a deal for CSKA Moscow’s Aleksandr Golovin.
