Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho admitted he’s not happy with the current squad that’s with him on tour, claiming he doesn’t have the majority of his players.
The Portuguese manager is without several of his stars due to their respective involvements in the World Cup and has been forced to take youngsters with him for pre-season.
United’s players are slowly returning from their holidays with the likes of Nemanja Matic, Fred and David de Gea all linking up around this period.
Players like Romelu Lukaku and Paul Pogba who are integral to the squad’s chances at the Premier League title next season are yet to return for some time.
The former Real Madrid manager also seemed to hint on a host of outgoings once the transfer window slams shut in around two weeks time.
According to Manchester Evening News, Jose said: “No, I got good facilities as always, I got incredible commitment of the people that are involved with the process of preparing a good pre-season.
“I am happy with the matches, the evolution of the matches but I don’t have the players to work.
“I don’t have the majority of the players that are going to be in the squad on the 9th of August when the market closes. Of course I am not happy.”
Mourinho’s comments aren’t particularly pleasing but they are understandable given the situation.
Regardless of how poor he believes things to be, it’s definitely an opportunity for some young stars to have their shot at the limelight.
If it hadn’t been for the World Cup and the absences of some Manchester United stars, some of the youngsters may have never gone on tour this summer.
